I love soccer. I get flak for it all the time from my gaming friends. I honestly can’t understand why so many gamers don’t enjoy sports, they are games all the same. However, what I know for a fact most gamers don’t realize, is the dramatic appeal of sports. The Barclay’s Premier League is thousands of times more exciting to me because I feel that I know the players on the pitch, and I know their team’s history and pedigree. When Leicester ends top of the league, it has impact because I know the expositional points leading there. This next project of mine is an attempt to capture that personal connection to sport, to the players, the personality infused chess pieces which create the drama. As any sports fan knows, the world on the field and the world off the field can be, and often are, one and the same.
